    Leo has 8 balloons. He needs 11. 8 + □ = 11. 11 is the whole. 8 is one part. Count up from 8. 9, 10, 11. That's 3! The box is 3.

  3. Box at the start

    □ + 6 = 14. The box is first. Don't worry! 14 is the whole. 6 is a part. Count up from 6 to 14. That's 8! Watch out! The box is not 14. Check it: 8 + 6 = 14.
