How the lesson starts: Grade 2 Bridge: Shape Attributes and Thirds

Turtle picnic
Hi friend! Meet three turtle pals. Tom, Tia, and Tess are having a picnic. They have snacks in fun shapes. And they want to share fairly. Let's help!
Count the sides
Count the sides to name a shape. Triangle: 3 sides. Square and rectangle: 4 sides. Pentagon: 5 sides. Hexagon: 6 sides. Big, small, or tilted, the sides stay the same!
Thirds!
Three turtles share one sandwich. Cut it into 3 equal parts. These are thirds! Each turtle gets one third. 2 equal parts are halves. 4 equal parts are fourths.
