Each picture is one pet. Here are the cats: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Here are the dogs: 1, 2, 3. Here are the fish: 1, 2.
How many dogs?
How many dogs are there? Find the dog row first. Then count each dog once. 1, 2, 3. 3 dogs! Watch out! Stay in the dog row. Don't count the cats.
