1. Baker Mo's cupcakes

   Hi friend! Welcome to Baker Mo's cupcake shop. Mo puts 6 cupcakes on a tray. Then 3 more. Count on from six: seven, eight, nine. 6 + 3 = 9!

2. Make a ten

   Now 8 + 5. A full tray holds ten. Move 2 cupcakes from the 5 over to the 8. That makes ten! Three are left. 10 + 3 = 13. So 8 + 5 = 13!

3. Take some away

   Mo has 15 cookies. A friend buys 3. Count back three from fifteen: fourteen, thirteen, twelve. 15 − 3 = 12. Twelve cookies are left!
