Shelly's walk to the pond
Hi there! Shelly the turtle walks from her rock to the pond. The rock is at 0. The pond is at 1. The stops in between are fractions! Let's find them with Shelly.
Halves and fourths
Split the path from 0 to 1 into 4 equal parts. Each part is one fourth. The stops are 1/4, 2/4 and 3/4. To put a flag on 1/4, go one jump from 0.
Name the flag's spot
A flag sits on the path. Only 0 and 1 have labels. Count the equal parts from 0 to 1: 4. That's the bottom number. Count the jumps from 0 to the flag: 3. That's the top number. Three fourths!
