Bridge: Fraction as Division
How the lesson starts: Bridge: Fraction as Division

Pancake morning
Good morning! It's pancake time at the Bear Cabin. Chef Bruno made 3 pancakes, but there are 4 hungry cubs. Every cub must get the same amount. How much does each cub get? Let's share fairly!
Cut and share
There are more cubs than pancakes, so nobody gets a whole one. Chef Bruno cuts each pancake into 4 equal pieces. Each cub takes 1/4 from each of the 3 pancakes. That's 3 pieces. Each cub gets 3/4 of a pancake!
A fraction is a division
So 3 ÷ 4 = 3/4! The fraction bar is a division sign in disguise. The top number is what gets shared. The bottom number is how many share it. 2/5 means 2 ÷ 5. Never flip it: 3/4 is not 4 ÷ 3!
