How the lesson starts: Generate & Analyze Patterns

1. Hoppy's lily pads

   Meet Hoppy the frog! Hoppy only hops on lily pads that follow a rule. Today's rule: start at 3 and add 4. So the pads go 3, 7, 11, 15. Where does Hoppy land next? Let's become pattern detectives!

2. Shape stepping stones

   Some patterns use shapes. Hoppy's stones go triangle, circle, square, then triangle, circle, square again. The part that repeats is the core. After square, the core starts over. So the next stone is a triangle!

3. The next three pads

   Back to the number pads: 3, 7, 11, 15. The rule says add 4. So the next pad is 15 + 4 = 19. Then 19 + 4 = 23. Then 23 + 4 = 27. Keep adding 4, one hop at a time!
