Line Symmetry
How the lesson starts: Line Symmetry

Kiko's paper butterflies
Kiko is making paper butterflies for the art show! She folds the paper in half and cuts one wing. When she opens it, both wings match perfectly. That fold is a line of symmetry. Let's find some!
What is line symmetry?
A line of symmetry is a fold line. Fold along it, and the two halves match exactly, like a mirror. This triangle stands on its base. Fold it straight down the middle, and the halves match. It has line symmetry!
The fold test
Kiko tests letters. Fold T straight down the middle. The two halves match, so T has line symmetry. Now S. Try down the middle, across, corner to corner. No fold makes the halves match. S has no line of symmetry.
