Locate Information in Two or More Sources

Independently locate related information from at least two age-appropriate print/non-print reference sources for a topic.

How the lesson starts: Locate Information in Two or More Sources

  1. The Library of Lanterns

In the Library of Lanterns, Rafi the raccoon has lots of questions. Dot the robot librarian beeps. Every question has a best source. Let's learn which source does which job!

  2. Dot's source toolbox

Every source has a job. A dictionary tells what a word means and how to say it. A thesaurus finds another word, or an opposite. An atlas has maps. A calendar shows dates. A timeline shows events in order.

  3. Let's match questions

Dot has more helpers. How do you bake bread? Open a cookbook. Will it rain tomorrow? Check a weather report. How do volcanoes form? Try a science encyclopedia. A joke book or a comic book won't help with these!
