How the lesson starts: Subtract Multiples of 10

1. Juno's acorn bags

   Hi friend! This is Juno the squirrel. Juno keeps acorns in bags. Each bag holds 10 acorns. Juno has 70 acorns. She gives 30 to her pal Pip. How many are left?

2. Give away 3 bags

   70 is 7 bags. Pip gets 30. That's 3 bags. Take away 3 bags. Count what's left. 10, 20, 30, 40. Four bags are left. That's 40 acorns!

3. Solve 80 − 30

   80 is 8 bags. 30 is 3 bags. 8 − 3 = 5. So 5 bags are left. 5 bags is 50 acorns! Watch out! Keep the zero. Not 5. It's 50!
