How the lesson starts: Count Money

  1. Leo's lemonade stand

Hi friend! Leo the lion has a lemonade stand. One cup costs 50¢. Friends pay with coins and bills. Let's help Leo count the money!

  2. Meet the money

    Meet the money! A penny is 1¢. A nickel is 5¢. A dime is 10¢. A quarter is 25¢. And a dollar bill is $1, that's 100¢!

  3. Count the quarters

Mia pays with 3 quarters. Each quarter is 25¢. Count by twenty-fives: 25, 50, 75. That's 75¢. In dollars, we write it as $0.75. Not 3¢! Count the value, not the coins.
