Find Unknowns in Multiplication & Division Equations

How the lesson starts: Find Unknowns in Multiplication & Division Equations

  1. Detective Biscuit

Hi, detective! Meet Biscuit, a puppy detective with a very good nose. Sneaky numbers are hiding in equations. Biscuit sniffs out clues to find them. Let's crack some cases!

  2. A missing factor

Case one: 6 times box equals 30. Picture 30 bones shared into 6 bowls. Each bowl gets 5 bones. So 6 × 5 = 30. The hiding number is 5!

  3. Let's crack 7 × □ = 42

    7 times box equals 42. Count by 7s and keep track: 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42. That's 6 jumps. So 7 × 6 = 42. The box is 6! Watch out: don't write 35 or 49. The box is a factor, not a total.
