Measure & Solve with Mass and Liquid Volume

How the lesson starts: Measure & Solve with Mass and Liquid Volume

  1. Giant Gus's soup

Hello! Meet Gus, a gentle giant who loves to cook. Today he's making his famous pumpkin soup! He must weigh his food and measure his water. First, he needs the right units!

  2. Pick the right unit

Mass tells how heavy something is. A paper clip is about 1 gram, so light things use grams. A pumpkin or an anchor is heavy, so use kilograms. Water is a liquid. Measure liquids in liters!

  3. The water barrel

Which unit makes sense for a full water barrel: grams or liters? Ask: is it a liquid? Yes, it's full of water. Liquids use liters. So liters! Watch out: grams are for tiny, light things, like a feather.
