Solve Division Word Problems

How the lesson starts: Solve Division Word Problems

  1. Pirate treasure!

Ahoy, matey! Captain Zara's crew found 15 shiny gems. She wants to share them equally among 3 pirates. How many gems does each pirate get? Let's split the treasure!

  2. Deal them out

Deal the gems one at a time, like cards. Pip gets 5. Rosa gets 5. Tao gets 5. Fair and square! Shared equally means divide. 15 ÷ 3 = 5 gems each.

  3. Let's share 18 coins

18 coins are shared equally among 3 friends. How many does each friend get? Start with the total: 18 ÷ 3. Think: 3 times what makes 18? 3 × 6 = 18. So each friend gets 6 coins!
