1. Camp Cloudberry

   Welcome to Camp Cloudberry! Counselor Rory has lots of snacks to pack. Big problems take a few steps. First, we make a plan. Then we do each step. Let's go!

2. Plan: multiply, then subtract

   Rory packs 6 boxes with 24 marshmallows each. Break 24 into 20 and 4. 6 × 20 = 120, and 6 × 4 = 24. That's 144. Then Rory gives away 35. 144 − 35 = 109 left!

3. Two steps, one answer

   Rory packs 8 bags with 15 cookies in each. Then the campers eat 27. Step 1: how many cookies in all? 8 × 15 = 120. Step 2: take away the eaten ones. 120 − 27 = 93 cookies left!
