Equivalent Ratios & Proportion Reasoning
How the lesson starts: Equivalent Ratios & Proportion Reasoning

Leo's smoothie stand
Leo runs a smoothie stand. His famous recipe uses 3 strawberries and 2 bananas. His friends are coming, and he needs more smoothies. But every smoothie must taste exactly the same. Let's help him!
A ratio table
To make more, multiply both parts by the same number. 1 batch: 3 and 2. 2 batches: 6 and 4. 3 batches: 9 and 6. 4 batches: 12 and 8. Every row tastes the same! So 3:2 = 6:4 = 9:6 = 12:8.
Scaling up the price
2 smoothies cost 6 coins. How much do 6 smoothies cost? 6 smoothies is 3 times as many as 2. So the price is 3 times as much too: 6 × 3 = 18 coins. Scale both parts the same way!
