Meet Rosa the artist! She's making a mosaic wall with exactly 100 tiles, and she paints some of them blue. How much of the wall is blue? We can use a percent, a fraction or a decimal: three ways to say the same amount!
Percent means per hundred
Percent means out of 100. Rosa paints 3 whole columns blue. Each column has 10 tiles, so that's 30 out of 100: 30%! As a fraction, 30/100 or 3/10. As a decimal, 0.30.
Fraction superstars
Some fractions are percent superstars. 1/4 is 25%. 1/2 is 50%. 3/4 is 75%. 1/5 is 20%. And 4/5 is 80%, 1/10 is 10%. Learn these, and you'll be super speedy!
