How the lesson starts: Sequences & Missing-Term Reasoning

1. Freddy the frog

   Meet Freddy the frog! He hops along lily pads with numbers on them: 3, 5, 8, 12, 17. But his hops are not all the same size! Where will Freddy land next? Let's become pattern detectives.

2. Same-size hops

   Warm up with same-size hops. Freddy lands on 4, 9, a hidden pad, 19 and 24. Each hop is +5. So the hidden pad is 9 + 5 = 14! When a pad is missing, find the hop size from the pads you can see.

3. Taking turns

   Sometimes two patterns take turns! 2, 5, 4, 7, 6, 9. Split them: the 1st, 3rd and 5th numbers are 2, 4, 6. The 2nd, 4th and 6th are 5, 7, 9. Each adds 2. So next come 8 and 11.
