How the lesson starts: Graph Ratio Relationships

Maya's kite festival
Hi there! Maya is getting ready for the kite festival. Every kite gets 2 ribbons on its tail. 1 kite, 2 ribbons. 2 kites, 4 ribbons. We can put this ratio in a table, and then turn the table into a picture called a graph!
Rows become points
Each table row is a pair of numbers. Kites are x, ribbons are y. 1 kite, 2 ribbons is the point (1, 2). 2 kites, 4 ribbons is (2, 4). 4 kites, 8 ribbons is (4, 8). Plot them, and you can see the ratio!
Let's plot a point
A row says x = 3 and y = 6. Write the pair with x first: (3, 6). Start at zero. Go right 3, across the bottom. Then go up 6. Watch out: going right 6 and up 3 lands on (6, 3), a totally different spot! Across first, then up.
