Multi-Digit Division
How the lesson starts: Multi-Digit Division

Juno's festival job
Welcome to the Moonbeam Music Festival! Juno runs the supply tent. She has 952 guitar picks to share equally among 14 bands. How many picks does each band get? Big shares like this need a plan. Let's build one together!
Guess the size first
Before dividing, estimate. Why? It tells you how big the answer should be, so silly mistakes jump out. The crew splits 4,872 cables into 24 crates. Try 20: 24 × 20 = 480, way too small. Try 200: 24 × 200 = 4,800, very close! Try 2,000: 48,000, way too big. So the answer is about 200.
Digit by digit
Now 952 ÷ 14. First, estimate: 14 × 70 = 980, so the answer is a bit under 70. 9 is less than 14, so start with 95. 95 ÷ 14 is 6, with 11 left. Bring down the 2 to make 112. 112 ÷ 14 is 8. Each band gets 68 picks, just under 70!
