Use Visuals to Clarify Ideas

Add drawings or other visual displays to descriptions when appropriate to clarify ideas, thoughts, and feelings.

How the lesson starts: Use Visuals to Clarify Ideas

  1. Poppy's picture book

Hi friend! This is Poppy the panda. Poppy is making a class book. She adds pictures to her words. A good picture shows what the words say. Let's help Poppy pick!

  2. Does it match?

Poppy writes, the seed grew into a plant. Which picture shows it? Seed, then flower. Yes! Flower, then seed is backwards. Seed, then bug is wrong.

  3. Let's check the apples

Poppy writes, three red apples are in the basket. She checks each picture. Two red apples? Not three. Three green apples? Not red. Three red apples. Three, and red. That one matches every word!
