How the lesson starts: Choose Language for the Situation

  1. Coco changes colors

This is Coco the chameleon. Coco changes colors to fit each place. Coco changes her words too! She talks one way to her best friend. She talks another way to the principal.

  2. Friend talk, polite talk

Friend talk is relaxed, like hey and see ya. Polite talk is careful, like dear and please. Use polite talk with grown-ups at school. Both kinds should be kind and clear!

  3. Who is listening?

Coco asks her teacher for help. Who is listening? A grown-up at school. Gimme a hand, dude? Too relaxed! Help me now? Too bossy! Could you please help me, Mr. Diaz? Polite and clear!
