Plan a Narrative

Establish a situation and characters, order events naturally, and plan a clear beginning, middle, and ending.

How the lesson starts: Plan a Narrative

  1. Mo's story night

This is Mo, a little dragon. Tonight is story night on Dragon Mountain! Mo wants to tell a story. But his ideas are all jumbled. Let's help Mo make a story plan.

  2. Three story parts

Every story plan needs three parts. The character is who the story is about. The setting is where it happens. The problem is what goes wrong.

  3. Parts that fit together

Mo's idea is a sandcastle at the beach. The parts must fit that idea. A sunny beach fits. Juni the crab fits. Waves wash her castle away. That problem fits too! A snowy forest? A space robot? Those belong in other stories.
