How the lesson starts: Use Images and Diagrams as Evidence

  1. Snap the camera bot

Meet Amara the explorer and her camera robot, Snap. Snap says pictures talk too! A diagram can tell a fact the words don't say.

  2. A labeled diagram

Amara reads, a plant has four parts. Each part has a job. But which part is at the very top? The words don't say. The diagram shows it! The flower is on top. The roots are at the bottom.

  3. A steps diagram

Some diagrams show steps. The words say a frog changes as it grows. The arrows show the order. Egg, then tadpole, then frog. What comes right after the egg? The tadpole!
