Track Character Traits, Motivations, Feelings, and Plot
Describe how a character develops through traits, motivations, and feelings, and explain how the character’s actions contribute to the sequence/plot.
How the lesson starts: Track Character Traits, Motivations, Feelings, and Plot

Meet Ember
Meet Ember, a little dragon with big dreams. Today you track her like a character scientist. First question: what is Ember like inside? Her actions will tell us!
Ember's story
Listen. Ember wanted to fly in the Sky Parade. Her wings were small and wobbly. Every morning, she practiced flapping on the hill. She fell many times, but she got back up. On parade day, Ember soared with the big dragons.
Let's find a trait
A trait is what a character is like inside. You figure it out from actions. Ember practiced every morning, so she is hard-working. She got back up after falling, so she is determined. Every trait needs an action as proof.
