How the lesson starts: Bridge: Analyze Structure and Viewpoint

  1. The Floating Museum

Beep boop! Meet Zuzu, the robot guide at the Floating Museum. Zuzu shows a secret of every text. Writers build sections in different shapes. Two sections can be about the same topic but built differently!

  2. The Time Room

Section A tells how maple syrup is made, step by step in time order. That is called chronology. Look for time words. In early spring. Next. Then. Finally. They march you through the order things happen.

  3. The Why Room

Section B is about the same syrup, but it explains why things happen. That is cause and effect. Look for the signal words. So. Because. As a result. Ask what question the whole section answers: in what order, or why?
