How the lesson starts: Spell Multisyllabic and Affixed Words

Spell School
At Spell School, young wizard Iris practices spelling spells. One wrong letter and poof! Yesterday her toad, Figo, turned purple. Today her teacher says a long word out loud. Iris must spell it just right.
Chunk by chunk
Long word? Say it slowly, chunk by chunk. Care, ful, ly. Carefully. Un, hap, pi, ness. Unhappiness. When you hear a word, tap out its chunks. Then spell each chunk.
Iris spells careless
The teacher says: careless. Iris says it slowly. Care, less. Two chunks. First chunk: C, A, R, E. Second chunk: L, E, S, S. Then she reads it back. Careless! Every chunk is there.
