Synthesize Across Texts

Integrate information from several texts on the same topic to answer questions or speak/write knowledgeably.

How the lesson starts: Synthesize Across Texts

  1. Kiko's smoothie lab

Kiko the koala runs a smoothie lab, but her smoothies are made of facts! She drops in one source, then another. First, she looks for facts that both sources share.

  2. Two sources

Source A is about the octopus body: eight arms, no bones, squeezing through gaps. Source B is about hiding: color changes and ink. And look! Both say octopuses hide in rocky cracks by day.

  3. Let's check both

Kiko checks each fact in both places. Eight arms and no bones? Only Source A. Color changes and ink? Only Source B. Hiding in rocky cracks by day? Source A says hide, Source B says tuck. Both state it!
