Measurement Unit Conversions

How the lesson starts: Measurement Unit Conversions

  1. Sports Day!

Hello, champ! It's Sports Day at Maple School. Ava's long jump was 200 cm. But Coach Kai's record board uses meters! Let's learn to switch between units.

  2. Coach Kai's cheat sheet

Here's Coach Kai's cheat sheet. 1 meter is 100 centimeters. 1 kilogram is 1,000 grams. 1 foot is 12 inches. Learn these facts, and you can convert!

  3. Ava's jump

200 cm to meters. Centimeters are small and meters are big, so you need fewer: divide by 100. 200 ÷ 100 = 2 meters! Going the other way, 3 feet to inches is 3 × 12 = 36 inches.
