Represent & Interpret Data Displays

How the lesson starts: Represent & Interpret Data Displays

  1. The big field-trip vote

Hi, data detective! The Treehouse Club voted on a field trip: the zoo, the beach, the museum or the farm. That's a lot of votes! How can we see the winner fast? Let's organize the data.

  2. Tally into a table

First, Zoe makes a table. For each trip, she counts the tally marks. The zoo gets 7. The beach gets 5. The museum gets 3. The farm gets 4. A table keeps every count neat and tidy.

  3. Build a bar graph

Now turn the table into a bar graph. Each bar is as tall as its votes: zoo, beach, museum, farm. The zoo bar is tallest, so the zoo wins! Bars make it easy to compare groups.
