Grade 3 Bridge: Grade 3 Irregular Words

Recognize and read a small set of grade-appropriate irregular words using known regular parts plus remembered irregular parts.

How the lesson starts: Grade 3 Bridge: Grade 3 Irregular Words

  1. Rosa's Heart Word Hunt

Meet Rosa the raccoon. Rosa hunts for heart words. Most of a heart word sounds out the usual way. But one part is tricky. You learn that part by heart!

  2. Find the tricky part

Look at friend. The F R sounds just right. The N D sounds right too. But the I E says short E, like in bed. That is the tricky part. Put a heart on it!

  3. Quiet letters

Some tricky parts hide! In answer, A N sounds right. E R sounds right. But the S W? You hear S, but the W is silent. S W is the tricky part.
