See How a Story Is Built

Describe how story parts build on one another, including setting, character, problem, important events, climax/turning point when evident, and resolution.

How the lesson starts: See How a Story Is Built

  1. Meet Gizmo

Beep boop! Meet Gizmo, a robot who builds things. Today Gizmo builds a story! A story has parts, like a house has parts. Let's find them!

  2. Nori's Kite Rescue

Gizmo reads a story. On a windy hill, Nori flew her dragon kite. Whoosh! The wind snapped the string. The kite got stuck high in an oak tree. Nori tugged and jumped, but she could not reach it. Then her big brother Sami had an idea. They used a long rake to wiggle the kite free.

  3. Three story parts

The setting tells where, and who is there. On a windy hill, Nori flew her kite. The problem is the trouble. The kite got stuck in a tree. The solution fixes it. A rake wiggled the kite free!
