How the lesson starts: Use Perfect Verb Tenses

Ember's Done List
Meet Ember, a young dragon with a very long Done List. Ember says what is already finished by a certain time. For that she needs the perfect tenses. Perfect here means done!
Helper + done-word
Every perfect tense has two parts. A helper: has, had or will have. Then the done form of the verb. Has baked. Had baked. Will have baked. The time clue picks the helper.
Let's pick one
Before the guests came, Ember blank the cave. The clue is before the guests came. That's a past event, and the cleaning happened even earlier. So the helper is had. Had cleaned! Watch out: cleans and cleaning don't show done.
